No matter how important the message, how interesting the speaker, or how critical the timing, sometimes a “talking head” video just falls flat.

Even when well done, they can’t add much context or impact beyond the scripted message. They simply don’t stand out and that’s just the nature of the format.

Tremendousness is interested in bridging the gap between static talking head videos and dynamic, fully-animated deliverables by crafting simple, elegant “draw-over” videos that support and emphasize your message—and entertain your viewers.

So when Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis needed an eye-catching video featuring a message from the Dean, we were ready to help.

We collaborated with the team at Olin to help Dean Mark Taylor send out his greetings for the New Year—and share what he has in mind for students at the business school.

After some initial discovery conversations, Tremendousness drafted a script from key talking points, created a storyboard that integrated a live-action video shoot with fun (but relevant) sketches, then illustrated and animated those ideas into a professionally-recorded video.

All of this was done collaboratively with the client team and videography partner—and on a tight deadline.

The result is a clear and colorful look at Dean Taylor’s vision for the future. Because the business school’s New Year’s message was not meant to be “all business,” we made sure to inject some humor and include fun references to one of Dean Taylor’s great passions: his collection of antique clocks.

So not only did viewers get a personal greeting for 2018 and a look at the exciting things the Dean has planned for the year, they also learned exactly what “horology” is.

And any day you learn something new is a good day.

So all in all, a good start to the new year.
